As the Kitchen Manager / Chef you will use your knowledge and experience of professional cooking to lead a team of staff and efficiently run the kitchen. In this job you will need good leadership skills, good communication skills and work quietly and calmly under pressure.
The successful candidate must be dynamic, enthusiastic about food and work to achieve employee engagement, optimal guest satisfaction and maximum sales and profits while adhering to established company standards.
Preferably live in the Picard, Portsmouth area (or have good transport solution) and hold a valid driver’s license. The Kitchen Manager / Chef will form a close working relationship with the other Heads of Department. Strong coaching and leadership development talents are pre-requisites to enhance profitability.

The Champs Hotel & Restaurant is a pleasant and professional work environment where employees come first. Staff members consider co-workers as “internal guests” and are respectful to each other. Full-time employees work 40 to 45 hours per week and some weekend days per month are scheduled off. Remuneration is above average and consists of a salary and a performance bonus.

Job Summary
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
- Develop menus / menu planning / recipes & food cost calculations
- Ensure that the food served is healthy & attractive
- Organize and oversee the work of kitchen staff
- Decide tasks and delegate among team
- Supervise ordering food from suppliers
- Manage stocks of food & keeping waste at minimum
- Contribute in recruiting, training and developing staff
- Managing health and hygiene procedures
- Verify that the kitchen and staff exceed health code standards
Requirements:
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience with similar position / organization
- Interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
- Committed to exceptional customer service
- Professional in appearance
- Knowable of kitchen hygiene
- Able to make decisions, is a team player and has positive attitude
- Able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and be flexible regarding availability to work
